Generation of technical and financial information from the development of electric bus pilot tests in intermediate cities of Colombia

2025 Download available: ES

This study confirms the technical, financial, and operational viability of electric buses in intermediate cities such as Montería, Sincelejo, Ibagué, and Armenia, as well as in Medellín. The results show that electric buses offer sufficient range for daily operations, reduce operating costs between 32% and 62% compared to diesel, and are up to 10% more cost-effective over their useful life. Additionally, they contribute to national emission reduction targets and to the improvement of air quality and public health.
